This Week’s Featured Pet – Maisy

Dec 5, 2022

Adorable Maisy is a special girl. While her 3 brothers are perfectly normal kittens and have been adopted, Maisy was born with a major congenital defect causing her back half to be crippled. Upon seeing her x-rays, the veterinarian was amazed she was alive. Her spine is severely curved, her tail is at a 90-degree angle to her body, and her legs are deformed and immobile.

But, alive she is.  Sweet Maisy, who’s a staff favorite and friendly to everyone who stops by her kennel, is pain-free and a happy little girl who tries very hard to be a normal kitten. She scoots around using her front legs to drag her back-end and wants to go places and play as kittens do. Maisy's condition also causes her to have no control over her bowels and bladder so she’ll need to wear diapers the rest of her life.

Surgery for her would be risky and likely would not be of any benefit, so at 8 1/2-months old, she waits to be fitted with a wheelchair. There’s no doubt that once she has wheels, Maisy will test all boundaries. She’s so ready! She has places to go and things to do!

While Maisy may be handicapped, whoever adopts her surely will find that she doesn’t know she has limitations. She will be a wonderful companion who craves human attention and cuddles. She also gets along fine with other felines.

Please help us obtain a wheelchair for Maisy so that she can be free to live as a cat should by donating to our Angels Healing Angels Special Medical Fund.  Any amount is greatly appreciated. We use all donations to the fund exclusively for special medical cases. To donate, please click here. For more information, contact us at (951) 708-1280 or info@arerescue.org
